Biography: Dr. Xin Yang received his bachelor's degree from Beijing Jiaotong University, China, in 2005, and then his master’s degree from Queen Mary, University of London in 2006. He obtained his PhD in Medical Engineering from Cardiff University in 2011 and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Edinburgh between 2011 and 2012. In 2012, he joined the School of Engineering at Cardiff University, leading the Medical Ultrasound and Sensor Laboratory (MUSL) group. His group focuses on developing acoustofluidic techniques/devices for applications in early cancer diagnosis/treatment, biosample manipulation and concentration, acceleration of stem cell differentiation, drug delivery, and artificial intelligence integration. He has been awarded numerous research grants funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the Royal Society, the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), the Wellcome Trust, and Industries, totalling over £1 million. Dr. Yang has published more than 40 peer-reviewed papers in journals such as Applied Physics Reviews, Small, Nano Letters, Biomaterials Research, Acta Biomaterialia, Analytica Chimica Acta, and Lab on a Chip, and authored 8 books. He is a member of the EPSRC, the Medical Research Council (MRC), and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) expert pools, and a senior member of the UK Organ-on-a-chip, the UK Acoustofluidics Group, and the Peer Review College of the EPSRC. He currently serves on the editorial board for the journal of Frontiers in Mechanical Engineering, Nanotechnology and Precision Engineering.
